How good are N42 grade magnets as compared with grade N45?
I’m talking about neodymium magnets. Is grade N45 the highest and are grade N42 still good?
The number after “N” is the energy product of the magnet, measured in megagauss-oersteds. What you need to know is that basically the strength is proportional to the number, so that N42 is only about 7% weaker than N45, and the price is probably more than 7% lower, so go ahead and buy the N42 ones. By the way, the best strength achieved so far is N54.
