magnets near laptop
How can i reformat my laptop?!?(im considering puting a magnet near it.)?
its a gateway laptop.
the model type is mx5969
i really don’t know how old that makes it.i posted this question earlier but got one reply. here’s another question form earlier. its more information for my question i guess.

do i need a plain disk to save my information.if you read my dilemma you would know why i need help. also can you tell me how to reformat step by step.
Dont put a magnet near it. It will destroy the computer.
You should have your Vista/XP/Windows 7 install disk. Put it in and boot from it (check online how to do it).
At the part where it asks where to install it, thats where you format your drive. In XP, it will be a blue screen and give you options of your drives. Select the one you want to format and it will ask you if you want to leave the partition, format as FAT, FAT quick, NTFS, NTFS quick. Choose NTFS. For Vista and W7, at the part where it asks which partition to install it to, click Advanced Options, choose your partition, and click Format.
Then continue the installation as you have no operating system.
