magnets lcd monitor
LCD tv – discolored and cannot fix it! Help?
I recently moved my tv from my bedroom into the living room and connected the cable and everything. When it was in my room, it was working fine. But now it has a discoloration to it. The right side of the bottom is like purple and the rest has green/ pink hues all over. I tried adjusting all the visual settings but it doesn’t work.
A similar thing happened when my monitor had a magnet by it so I moved the receiver box for the cable from the tv and plugged it out then back in – but it is still like that.
I have a flat screen LCD tv, not sure of the size but maybe 44”?
Any ideas on how I can try to fix this?
Also! It was not dropped or anything when I moved it to the living room.
Check to see if it has a degauss setting. It is an icon of a magnet with a line through it. However, that is usually just a problem with CRT televisions/monitors. If you find such a setting, use it.
You mentioned a magnet. In that case, it may need to be degaussed. If the monitor doesn’t have such a setting to degauss it, then either take it to a TV shop, or get something to degauss it. If you can find a bulk tape/diskette eraser, a large soldering iron (the ones that are used for plumbing and hum when used), or an actual degaussing coil, then you could demagnetize the screen yourself. (If you use a large soldering iron, be careful not to hit the metal parts against anything – you only want the field from the back side, not the heat.) While it is on, get close to the screen with a magnetic field, and it will get worse and jump around, and rotate the degausser in a figure 8 and gradually move away from the screen, then turn off your degausser several feet away from the screen or so.
